Why can't Caretaker accept housing vouchers?

Incompatibilities

Payment processing

Caretaker can only process rent payments made by a credit card or bank account. The housing choice voucher program pays rent directly to landlords and wouldn't be able to make online credit card or bank payments, as far as we know.

Lease lengths

The housing choice voucher program requires participants to sign a lease for one year or more. Leases on Caretaker are typically less than one year.

Other options

Signing a lease with the landlord instead of Caretaker

In some cases, you can sign a lease for a listing on Caretaker for a year or more. This would take place outside of Caretaker and isn't an option we officially support. To see if this is an option for a particular listing, please send a message to the lister.
