The Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act is a document that gives lawmakers at the state and city level guidance for how to write landlord tenant laws.
The Uniform Residential Landlord Tenant Act was created in 1972 in order to update and standardize landlord-tenant law. State legislatures have adopted some or all of the Act's provisions throughout the years. The main sections of the Act provide guidance on landlord obligations, tenant obligations and definitions of different kinds of tenancies.
