Can a Landlord Ignore or Refuse my Request to Sublet in Oregon?

To refuse a prospective subtenant in Oregon, a landlord must have a reason that clearly shows that subletting to them would adversely affect their business.

Reasonable Refusal

Your landlord can refuse a proposed subtenant if their references reveal that they have a bad rental history, insufficient income, or a criminal background.

Unreasonable Refusal

If the landlord refuses for any other reason, such as a reason that could be deemed discriminatory, the proposed subtenant has the right to collect $100 from the landlord according to Oregon law.
