How Caretaker verifies identity and does a preliminary background check.


Caretaker verifies applicant's identities as a deterrent against theft and damages during viewings and fraudulent application materials. The identity verification process has the following three steps:

  1. Document review. Front and back images of a government-issued ID are uploaded. Automated identity verification technology that looks for patterns to help determine if an ID document is real or fake.
  2. Selfie-check. Photos of their face are checked against the document to confirm the match. This is done using biometric facial analysis software that looks for distinctive physiological facial characteristics and matches them to the photo on the ID document
  3. Run the identity. When possible, the now-verified name as well as date of birth and government ID number are check against a global set of databases to confirm that it exists.

Decisions can be nearly instantaneous or take a few minutes. In some cases, more information will be required to complete the verification.
